I checked the hotel finder at neworleans.com and found that prices are much lower than usual for the Mardi Gras period. You can find good rooms in or near the French Quarter for under $200.00 per night. This is based on double occupancy.
For people who have held off of going to Mardi Gras because of the crushing crowds and high expense this is the year to go.
But how many people do you think will be there? Also there is the awkward factor. I would feel a little uneasy partying where hundreds of people died so cruelly just a few months ago. The city just has a death pall over it right now that makes partying seem rather inappropriate to me.
ReplyDeleteI can see your point, but the point of Mardi Gras is to affirm life and New Orleans needs that right now.
ReplyDeleteAlso there is the fact that New Orleans' major industry is toursim and if it is to survive it MUST get its feet back under it ASAP.
