I checked the hotel finder at neworleans.com and found that prices are much lower than usual for the Mardi Gras period. You can find good rooms in or near the French Quarter for under $200.00 per night. This is based on double occupancy.

For people who have held off of going to Mardi Gras because of the crushing crowds and high expense this is the year to go.
