From Iran Focus:Tehran, Iran, Feb. 10 – Iran will buy several dozen surface-to-air missiles from Russia as part of its arsenal to protect its nuclear sites, government-run Persian language websites reported on Friday.
The reports quoted Mikhail Dmitriyev, director of Russia’s Federal Military-Technical Cooperation Service, as saying that some 30 Russian-made Tor M-1 surface-to-air missiles will be bought by Iran for up to 700 million dollars.
The anti-aircraft missiles would protect Iran’s nuclear installations in Isfahan and Bushehr, the reports said, adding that there was also talk of Iran purchasing the more powerful S-300 missiles from Moscow as well.
France and Germany will go into full bore appeasement mode the minute that Iran goes operational with an intermediate range nuclear missile that can reach Europe. Since the technology that they can offer Iran is orders of magnitude better than any leftover Soviet era crap any “partnership” Russia is hoping to form with Iran will be strictly temporary.
In fact, any partnership that Iran forms with a non-Muslim state will be temporary. As the Byzantines discovered an Islamic empire will not settle for indirect rule forever. A confrontation is looming. Will the United States and the European Union have the courage and the good sense to do what they must do to survive?
