For those of you keeping track of Angel's legal situation here is what I know as of Sunday night. I have received two updates from Gary Marbut, both saying that nothing new can be reported. Angel has a court date on Tuesday. After that something should be available.
Leroy Pyle, who hates Angel, has been distributing email alerts from a rabidly anti-gun website which allege to have some information about Angel's situation. Here is what the moonbats say. That the mother of Angel's son reported him to the police for threatening to kill her. She is also reported to have told police that he had a number of weapons in his possession. The police raided his residence and found a number of handguns, long guns and several thousand rounds of ammunition (sounds like my gun safe). Angel was arrested for the unregistered weapons and the charge of threatening the woman.
Angel's camp says (and I have absolutely no reason to doubt) that he was in the process of completing the paperwork to register his weapons. As far as I know there are no laws in Michigan or Detroit limiting the amount of ammunition that one may possess.
I have seen women accuse men of threatening them or of molesting their children in cases where they fear a custody battle. Also where they are just pissed off bitches. When this happens the man is arrested, his guns are confiscated (sometimes never returned) and his reputation is damaged, sometimes permanently. I have no direct knowledge of the events in question, but what I know of Angel makes it hard for me to believe that he is guilty.
I have also seen police refuse to enforce restraining orders against abusive monsters as well so police screwups cut both ways.
Finaly, Leroy Pyle should be fraking ashamed of himself. In his zeal to keep the alliance between gun owners and the law enforcment community intact Leroy lashes out at any critic of the police and their choice to enforce unconstitutional gun laws with the kind of venom usually only found in sewers like the dailykos or the Democratic Underground and their attacks on President Bush.
I suddenly drew a blank here, Lem. Where is this place that requires weapons to be registered?
ReplyDeleteThis all happened in Detroit, Michigan.
ReplyDeleteYikes, I should remember these things. A few of my brothers still live in Jersey and it's the same deal there. A license to buy each gun, and if you have one you better have a permit for it. In Iowa, you had to renew your handgun purchasing license once a year but could buy as many guns as you wanted. Here in Florida there is no permit to purchase, but a 3 day waiting period if, and here comes the stupidity, if you cannot show proof that you already own another gun, or have a Concealed Weapons Permit. So if you buy guns from the same store there is no waiting period if they've kept track of you or you bring in a gun to show them. All to provide for a cooling off period if you've decided to off the wife.

ReplyDeleteOr the hubby! Let's be fair here.
But what if the person's gay?
Heehee.
Y'know boys, I've been plenty p.o'd at my husband and at past boyfriends in my day, but never ever could I drop a dime on 'em over stupid stuff just to get even. I just don't get that way of thinking. Women who do that are just plain evil.
Years ago I had a woman that I knew from work call me and proudly tell me how she had reported her husband (they were getting a divorce) for pulling his gun on her.
ReplyDeleteGoodby gun, goodby concealed carry permit. Hello restraining order, hello record.
I forgot to mention that he didn't really point the gun at her. She figured out all by herself that she could get him in trouble and imporve her position in court by accusing him.
ReplyDeleteI rest my case. As I said: Plain evil!
