The religious left makes an appearance

First off, sorry for no posting today. I had a busy schedule so this is all I have time or energy for.

My church has a Wednesday evening service consisting of a bible study followed by choir practice. My attendance at the bible study is considered helpful since I am the teacher. Today, however, we had a guest, a gentleman who is walking across the nation visiting all the churches in our denomination, and any other which will welcome him. I welcome any chance to sit and let someone else do the work so I was looking forward to his presentation.

It wasn’t quite what I thought it was going to be.

First thing, he describes himself as “homeless” and compares himself to the robbery victim that the Good Samaritan helped. He is technically homeless because he chooses to spend his days walking from town to town, sleeping under bridges and so on, but this is a far cry from someone who is on the street because he has nowhere else to go. And as for being the Good Samaritan’s robbery victim, I don’t think so. If you go into the men’s room of the gas station and ram your own head through the mirror and then go out in the street and lay down hoping for someone to help you, you aint a victim.

He gave several reasons for his cross country walk, the environment, war, social justice, homelessness and one that actually made sense.

I’m inspired to put up several posts over the next week or so on each of these issues, including the one which was valid. But not tonight, I have to get some sleep so I can get up early and go to the range before work. I need to practice because I have a match Saturday.
