This is the old Deery Inn in Blountville, TN. It was built in 1785 by Mr. Deery and has hosted some notable figures from American history. Like Andrew Jackson, Andrew Johnson and James K Polk. The scaffolding is part of a much needed restoration being preformed by the Sullivan Co. Preservation Society.
The Deery Inn saw continuous operation as an inn until 1929. It was, of course, upgraded with the addition of indoor plumbing and electricity as they became available.
No wiring until 1929? You mean Andrew Jackson couldn't use his laptop computer there? :-)~
ReplyDeleteAfraid not. He even had to visit the little house out back.
ReplyDeleteDidn't they have coal power laptops then? I saw that on the innernet somewhere, so it has to be true.
ReplyDeleteNot coal, whale oil.
ReplyDeleteI stand corrected.
