Lebanon heating up again?

BEIRUT, Aug. 19 -- Helicopter-borne Israeli commandos raided a Hezbollah
stronghold in the Bekaa Valley early Saturday, setting off a fierce gun battle.
Lebanon called the attack a "flagrant violation" of a fragile six-day-old cease-fire and threatened to halt troop deployments in protest.

Hezbollah, which battled the Israeli military for 33 days until the truce took hold Monday, said its fighters encountered the Israeli commandos in a field near the town of Boudai, about 20 miles from the Syrian border.

The Israeli military, confirming the raid, said its commandos carried out the operation to interdict shipments of weapons and munitions to Hezbollah from Syria and Iran. The military said one Israeli officer was killed and two soldiers were wounded, one
seriously.

If the government of Lebanon is continuing to allow arms shipments from Syria and Iran to Hezbollah then of what value is the cease-fire? From the very beginning of this farcical process it has been clear that neither the international community nor the Lebanese government was going to do anything to disarm or disband Hezbollah.

Let us be clear about something. Hezbollah is a criminal terrorist organization. It has no more legal or moral right to exist than the Mafia or the Medellin cartel.

To put this into perspective, how many of you left-liberals would countenance the government of the United States going hat in hand to the Aryan Nations or the Klu Klux Klan and negotiating an agreement with them that would have them promise not to blow up any buildings, assassinate any government officials, kidnap and murder any Black people for sport or burn down any abortion clinics (until such time as they found it to be in their best interest to do so) in exchange for the government not doing anything meaningful to prevent them from stockpiling a vast array of modern military weapons. Weapons which would include long range rocket artillery and sophisticated anti-tank weapons.If you would find it unacceptable for the government to do this with a bunch of White supremacists on US soil why are you willing to accept it with a bunch of Neolithic Jew-haters on foreign soil? Is it just that you will tolerate any degree of evil as long as it doesn't have you in its crosshairs -- yet?


Olmert, incompetent left-liberal moron that he is, is in deep trouble. Israel’s parliamentary system allows governments to fall and leaders to be replaced at the drop of a hat. The international community’s repudiation of everything about the cease-fire which made it even marginally acceptable to Israel is giving him the perfect excuse to resume military operations at the level which they should have been from the beginning.

There is no reason for him not to finish the job of cleaning the Hezbollah vipers out of their Lebanese den.
