Last month this photo started making its way around the conservative side of the blogosphere. It shows Senator John Kerry on a visit to Iraq having breakfast in a mess hall full of soldiers sitting at a table alone but for one or two civilians.
This led to speculation that Kerry was being shunned by the troops. The left-wing moonbat blogs immediately started questioning the authenticity of the photograph. All sorts of conspiracy theories started winging their way around the wack-job leftie sites. The consensus of the moonbats was that the photograph could not possibly be genuine.
Well after putting a massive amount of effort into it a moonbat blogger has proven that the photograph is genuine, but that the impression given by the picture is not what it seems.
What happened was that Kerry wanted some one-on-one face time for an "off the record" talk with a couple of reporters from the left-wing New York Times and The New Yorker.
They sought out the empty table. So, to repeat, the photo is genuine but does not in itself prove that the troops despise Kerry. Proof of that will have to come from actually talking with people in uniform, as I have done. I can understand why the moonbats are confused about this because they mostly look at soldiers the way that sane people look at a drunken bum laying in a pool of his own urine. So they usually do not avail themselves of the chance to actually talk to any service people.
Now let's go back to the moonbat who moved heaven and earth to prove that the picture was real (although that isn't what he was actually attempting to do). He has posted his findings on his blog as though he has won some great victory by putting the "wingers" in their place.
Let's review. The consensus of the "reality based community" [snort] was that the photograph was could not possibly be genuine for a whole host of reasons which they found completely convincing. What the conservative community was look at an absolutely real picture and engage in logical speculation about what it implied based upon the known character of John Kerry and what those of us who actually know some soldiers actually know what they think of him.
Now I ask you, who has been vindicated here?
