War plans?

The Jerusalem Post is carrying an interesting report:

Despite repeated denials by the US administration, preparations for a military strike against Iranian nuclear sites are in "advanced" stages, according to informed sources in Washington quoted by The Guardian on Saturday.

According to the London-based Guardian report, the deployment of forces to the Persian Gulf would allow the opening of an Iranian front by the spring, however the sources said an attack would most likely only come next year before US President George W. Bush finishes his term in office.

The only problem with this report is that it is based on a story in The Guardian, a British newspaper. The UK press is usually fun to read, but you generally don't take them too seriously.

IF this is true I'll make two predictions. One is that the left in the US will have a cow, make that an entire herd of cattle. If you think the squeaking from the moonbat left is loud about the "Bush Surge" wait till you hear them piss and moan about the opening up of a new front in the terror war.

The fact that Iran is the driving force in the Iraqi insurgency and that taking them out of the game will cause that insurgency to collapse like a house of cards is not lost on the Democrat congressional leadership. They have pinned their hopes for taking the White House and enlarging their congressional majority in 2008 on a humiliating defeat in Iraq for the US. To have all their carefully laid plans blow up in their faces with an American victory would damage them the way that Watergate damaged the Republicans.

The other prediction is that a decisive US action against Iran will bring down the theocratic government in that nation and knock Islam back into a quiescent phase throughout the entire Middle East.

If the West's principal defender (the US) takes out the regimes of both Iran and Iraq, which are/were the two great hopes for the Islamofascists to achieve victory over the Great Satan and the Little Satan (the US and Israel) Muslims will lose hope for the promised world domination for at least another 30 years.

If this happens expect Islamic terrorism to drop off to almost nothing and the Palestinians to come to some reasonable accommodation with Israel.

This doesn't mean that Islam will never be a problem again. The militant impulse will rise again in another generation. The only way to purge it completely is to truly defeat Islam. And by truly defeat I mean crush it totally so that they see absolutely no hope of ever achieving victory. When they have internalized their defeat they will either reform or abandon Islam.
