From The Scotsman:
This day in 1979 Margaret Thatcher led the Conservative Party to victory in the general election with an overall majority of 43 seats.
There are certain times in history when God in his providence brings together the right mix of people in the right setting of events to bring about profound change in the world.
One of those times was at the American founding when giants like Washington, Jefferson and Franklin were brought together by the dream of building a new nation founded upon, and dedicated to the preservation of, human liberty.
Another time was when Thatcher, Reagan and Pope John Paul I were brought together at precisely the right time to bring down the tottering edifice of the Soviet Union.
Of the three Lady Thatcher is the only one remaining alive.
