First impression

I have to hit the road in a few minutes but wanted to mention this before I left. I was in Rex's Gun Store last Friday and got to handle on of the new Ruger SR9 striker fired pistols. I didn't get to shoot one because the range hasn't got any for rental yet, but here are my impressions of how the gun looked and felt.

The first thing that you notice is how thin and light the thing is. Then you notice how comfortable it feels in the hand, that is if you have small hands like I do. The pistol's grip feels very much like a 1911 except maybe even a little thinner. At least that's the subjective impression I got.

The trigger seems to need to move a little bit further than the trigger of the Glock and the pull is a little bit heavier than the standard Glock, but nothing like the Glock's "New York trigger". Reset appears to be nice and snappy.

I can't tell you anything about recoil or accuracy without firing it, of course, but what I saw did look impressive. If I had $450.00 to throw around I would buy one even though I am not a fan of the 9MM.

If I get a chance to shoot one I'll let you know how it goes.
