Reasons to hope

Some more good news about the upcoming election from the Drudge Report:

RASMUSSEN Florida Primary polling data showing Rudy lost lead; now its Huckabee, Romney on top: Huckabee 27% Romney 23% Giuliani 19%... Developing...

And:

CNN POLL: SOUTH CAROLINA

Huckabee 24%
Thompson 17%
Giuliani 16%
Romney 16%
McCain 13%
Paul 11%

Good news because Julie Annie continues to fall. Remmeber that Florida was supposed to be Rudy's firewall. He is counting on losing the first four, but Fla. is supposed to be where he turns it around. If that doesn't happen he is doomed. I'm not overjoyed that Elmer Gantry is on top but he is better than Rudy. Giuliani would destroy the Republican Party; Huckabee would not. Elmer would be a mixed bag of conservative and liberal much like Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush. This is not good, but the Republican Party can survive it. What it cannot survive is Rudolph Giuliani permanently driving out a couple of million values voters who will seek a new political home elsewhere.

Notice also that in South Carolina that Fred is within striking distance of the top. In his first Senate campaign he tried a more laid-back campaign style and fell seriously behind in the polls. He changed his strategy (remember the red pickup truck) and won by a comfortable margin.

He seems to be repeating that pattern here. First he tried it "Fred's Way" and it didn't work and now he is switching tactics. Whether it is too late remains to be seen, but I am hopeful.
