Sad goings on across the pond

Several items from the Brussels Journal combine to paint a bleak picture of Europe's future. First is this:

Europe is preparing itself for a Muslim take-over. Last year, an influential French Catholic archbishop told the American Catholic scholar Richard John Neuhaus that in the not-so-distant future Europe will be an Islamic continent. “We are preparing ourselves for soft Islamization,” the French archbishop said. Last week, the archbishop of Canterbury, the head of the Church of England, advocated the adoption of certain aspects of Islamic Sharia law in the British legal system. His remarks caused indignation from people who do not seem to realize that several Sharia courts already sit across England, Scotland and other Western countries.

Then there is this:

A quote from the Italian press agency AKI, 14 February 2008

Association of Moroccan Women in Italy president, Souad Sbai, claims that some Muslim women in the north of Italy are being kept chained up in their homes. “In northern Italy, there are women that live chained at home, from the kitchen to the bathroom, without being able to open the door,” said the leader of the women’s group. In the North [of Italy] there are 4 and 5 year old girls that wear the [Islamic] veil in the summer, and in the winter. This is the culture of male chauvinists, of fundamentalists – and nobody is shocked”.

Why should anyone be shocked Ms. Sbai? Animals are as animals do, after all.

Up to 17,000 women in Britain are being subjected to "honour" related violence, including murder, every year, according to police chiefs. And official figures on forced marriages are the tip of the iceberg, says the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). It warns that the number of girls falling victim to forced marriages, kidnappings, sexual assaults, beatings and even murder by relatives intent on upholding the "honour" of their family is up to 35 times higher than official figures suggest.

If present demographic trends continue most of the nations in Europe will be majority Muslim by 2050. I predict that Europe will be under sharia by 2035 because there will be enough fellow travelers to give the Muslims electoral victory by that time.

There is a chance that Europe could avoid this fate by acting forcefully now, but given the ongoing capitulation seen in the above incidents that is unlikely.

What is more possible, but still unlikely, is that the common people of Europe will grow frightened enough to elect far-right fascists and swap a caliphate for a Fourth Reich.

Neither of these outcomes bode well for the US.
