Hollywood and the pointless remake

It has become the fashion in Hollywood these days to remake old movies. Usually the remake is of a movie which stands on its own just fine and needs no remake. However the logic of "if it made money once it will make money again" has proven irresistible to studio executives.

In that vein I would like to put on my prognosticator's hat and predict the next batch of remakes:

In the Heat of the Night with Gene Hackman as Chief Bill Gillespie and Denzel Washington as Det. Virgil Tibbs.

The Exorcist with Miley Cyrus as Reagan MacNeil, Alan Rickman as Father Merrin, Heather Graham as Chris MacNeil, William Devane as Lt. Kinderman and Michael Keaton as Father Karras.

Silent Running with Sean Penn as Freeman Lowell.

The French Connection with Will Smith as Detective James "Popeye" Doyle.

Bonnie and Clyde with Tom Cruise as Clyde Barrow and Angelina Jolie as Bonnie Parker.

Rosemary's Baby with Rhada Mitchell as Rosemary Woodhouse and James Spader as Guy Woodhouse.

The Sand Pebbles with Johnny Depp as Holman and Jodie Foster as Shirley.

The Sound of Music with Ralph Fiennes as Capt. Von Trapp, Halle Berry as Maria and David Duchovny as Jake.

OK, the last one was a pure joke.

Feel free to add your own because this is all I can come up with on short notice.
