Sending them back under their wet rock

Mr. Newt and I have not always been on the same page, but today he is my hero.

The mainstream media has abandoned everything but the thinnest pretense of objectivity. They are nothing but partisan players who have committed themselves to naked advocacy in favor of not only B. Hussein Obama, but of the entire left-wing agenda.

The American public is waking up to this in ever greater numbers, as the poll showing that more than half the people in the country realize that the MSM is deliberately attempting to harm Mrs. Palin.

It is past time we began treating them as the enemy. Mr. Newt has shown us how it is done.

Me Too!

WASHINGTON (AP) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says he still might run for president if supporters will pledge $30 million by November.

"You can't bring all your good ideas if you don't have the resources to communicate," Gingrich told reporters Thursday at a breakfast in Washington.

Gingrich is holding a national Internet-based workshop next week. Afterward, his top political adviser, Randy Evans, will spend October seeing if he can generate pledges of $30 million, which Gingrich said would be needed to compete with the leader in the GOP presidential money chase, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

That is a great idea so listen up. If the loyal readers of Hillbilly White Trash will give me 30 million dollars by November I'll run for president too.

I'll even promise to spend some of the 30 million on my campaign.

Newt unloads

WASHINGTON (Map, News) - Dismissing the GOP presidential field as a "pathetic" bunch of "pygmies," Newt Gingrich hinted Monday he might step in to beat Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.

"If, in mid-October, it's quite clear that one or more of the current candidates is strong enough to be a serious alternative to a Clinton-Obama ticket, you don't need me to run," the former House Speaker said at a breakfast sponsored by the American Spectator. "If it becomes patently obvious, as the morning paper points out, that the Democrats have raised a hundred million more than the Republicans, and at some point people decide we are going to get Hillary unless there's a radical change, then there's space for a candidate," he added. "So you'll know by mid-October one of those two futures is real."

He says "mid-October because Fred is expected to announce in September.

Asked by the Examiner if he was prepared to commit to a run, Gingrich said, "I'm perfectly happy to do what I do," he said. "Whether that leads to the presidency is the country's problem, not mine."

Gingrich mocked Republican presidential candidates for subjecting themselves to a May debate hosted by Chris Matthews of MSNBC's "Hardball."

"You're watching an utterly irrelevant, shallow television celebrity dominate everybody who claimed they want to lead the most powerful nation in the world," he said.

Gingrich ridiculed "the idea of 10 or 11 people standing passively at microphones," and said he refused to "shrink to the level of 40-second answers, standing like a trained seal, waiting for someone to throw me a fish."

He added: "These are not debates, these are auditions. By definition, the psychology of an audition reduces the person auditioning and raises the status, for example, of Chris Matthews."

This is why Fred Thompson is skipping them. Every day his decision to announce late looks more and more wise.

Pressed by The Examiner about whether his political baggage renders him unelectable, Gingrich compared himself to a famous French statesman. "This is like going to De Gaulle when he was at Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises during the Fourth Republic and saying, 'Don't you want to rush in and join the pygmies?'" he said.

"I have no interest in the current political process. I have no interest in trying to figure out how I can go out and raise money under John McCain's insane censorship rules so I can show up to do seven minutes and twenty seconds at some debate." Still, he said he might enter the race before the deadlines to "start filing petitions.

It is so damned refreshing to hear someone stand up and tell the truth in this way. I mean some politician, us bloggers have been doing it since day one, but we're not serious.

How about this for 2008: Thompson/Gingrich?

Slimy dick resents Fred and Newt

Slimy dick manages to ask a good question, poorly:

Two shadows loomed over last night's Republican debate in South Carolina — the missing ex-Sen. Fred Thompson and former Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Both Thompson and Gingrich are reviewing their astrological charts to determine if the time is right for their presidential candidacies. These rites of introspection make it much harder for the conservative wing of the Republican Party to settle on a candidate.

Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani's pro-choice position and his backing for gun control and gay civil unions disqualify him from support by much of the Christian right.

OK, I'm going to say this one more time. Gun control is not a "religious right" issue. I am both a gun nut and an Evangelical Christian and I see plenty of people at church who don't like guns and plenty of people at the shooting range who aren't Christians. You've been told this before, why aren't you getting it?

The field of Republican conservatives has some promising entrants. While Romney's credentials as a conservative are rendered suspect by pro-choice/pro-life flip-flops and by his sponsorship of a liberal healthcare program in Massachusetts, other candidates could well carry the ball if Newt and Fred would get out of the way.

Huckabee (disclosure: a former Morris client) is an articulate executive — and former Baptist minister who can set social-conservative hearts aflutter. Hunter's brand of hard-line conservatism could also appeal to broad swaths of the right. But nobody can get a word in edgewise because of two men who don't think enough of us to fish or cut bait: Fred Thompson and Newt Gingrich.

What you have to understand about Slimy dick is that he is a liberal who loves and admires Bill Clinton and whose greatest regret in life is that he lost a power struggle with Hillary and was forced off the Clinton White House team. If he could go back and do things differently he would be a part of the Clinton machine right now.

As for Thompson and Gingrich Thompson is running and will announce in June. Until then he is unofficially in the race and is getting millions of dollars worth of free publicity and creating an electric anticipation on the part of conservatives. While Julie Annie implodes, McCain continues his slide to the margins and none of the other candidates manages to gain traction (and while Newt manages to manages to use his mouth for a shoe a few more times) Thompson's appeal will continue to grow. When Thompson makes his announcement he will be quickly catapulted into front runner status and he will never look back.

What Slimy dick doesn't get is that Fred is so likable and easy going that every torpedo that Clinton and Co. fire at him will wind up circling back and hitting them. That's what gave Reagan his Teflon coating, you know. His likable easy going nature. Thompson does not have to copy this, he has it naturally.

Gingrich, on the other hand, is not running and knows it. He is using the speculation about his possible candidacy to raise his profile in order to help him sell his new novel Pearl Harbor: A Novel of December 8th (which should be good, BTY) and to give him cachet for some projects which he is working on or planning.

My counsel to conservatives is to wait another 30 to 45 days and your hopes will be granted. And until then ride your Senators and Representitives like the very wrath of God over this immigraions sell-out. Because if that becomes law even Fred Thompson can't save the Republican Party.

Newt disappoints - again

From The Washington Post:

Yesterday's global-warming debate between John Kerry and Newt Gingrich was, as the moderator put it, "advertised as a smack-down and a prizefight." But those labels were too modest for Kerry.

"Welcome to our environmental version of the Lincoln-Douglas debates," the former Democratic presidential nominee told the crowd in the Russell Caucus Room. "We flipped a coin, and I picked Lincoln."

But something funny happened on the way to 1858. Gingrich, a former Republican House speaker, refused to play Douglas to Kerry's Lincoln, instead positioning himself as a tree-hugging green.

Before Kerry got a word in, Gingrich conceded that global warming is real, that humans have contributed to it and that "we should address it very actively." Gingrich held up Kerry's new book, "This Moment on Earth," and called it "a very interesting read." He then added a personal note about saving vulnerable species from climate change. "My name, Newt, actually comes from the Danish Knut, and there's been a major crisis in Germany over a polar bear named Knut," he confided.

The warm and fuzzy Gingrich surprised Kerry, who jettisoned prepared remarks that accused the former speaker of "marching in lock step with the climate-change deniers." Instead, Kerry found himself saying: "I've always enjoyed every dialogue he and I have ever had." He added that "your statement is very, very important" and gushed: "I frankly appreciate the candor."

The debate ended. They shook hands. Kerry put an arm around Gingrich. Gingrich put an arm around Kerry. For a brief but terrifying moment, they appeared to be on the verge of a hug.

Here is another example of why Newt Gingrich will never and should never be president.

This isn't the first time Newt has melted in the presence of leftist potentates. On his show today Rush said that it was like Newt got "star struck" when brought face to face with someone like Hillary or Kerry.

I don't know why that should be, but obviously the Republican Party cannot afford to have someone on either part of the ticket who will get down on his knees and kiss his opponent's ass during the candidate debates.

This was a shame because Gingrich is very smart and should have wiped the floor with a pathetic lightweight like Kerry.
