I passed through the mountain town of Saluda, NC today. Saluda is not remote being just two or three miles off of I-26.
The town takes its name from the Saluda Mt. grade.
Some of the local businesses take inspiration from the railroad theme.
Whistle stop is a railroad term for a stop of short duration.
Saluda is a small town. This is just about all that there is of it.
