Are they trying to get him elected?

This video is the latest controversy relating to religion to hit the Republican primary race. Give it a look:

What is controversial about a Christmas greeting? If you will notice behind Huckabee is a set of white shelves whose shape suggests a cross. It would seem that to even suggest a cross in a CHRISTMAS message is somehow underhanded.

Note that upon the shelves are some Christmas ornaments and that as the camera pans a Christmas tree comes into view. Placing a symbol which has come to be associated with Christ's birth in the same shot with the symbol of his sacrificial death reminds people of the true "reason for the season" and is an entirely legitimate message.

What, exactly, is the nefarious purpose here supposed to be? Take a look at this picture:

This is a fresco by artist Ben Long. It depicts Jesus saying goodbye to his mother on the day he left home to begin his public ministry. This is the last time they will be together as a son and his mother. After this day they will be God and worshipper, Saviour saved. As Jesus looks to his right he sees a carpenter, perhaps his brother James, carrying a wooden beam on his way to a building project. In his heart the Lord knows that one day he will also carry a wooden beam on his way to finish the work he came to earth to accomplish.

Must we now wonder what evil purpose Mr. Long had in using symbolism in this way? What about this picture:

Notice how Leonardo da Vinci used the window behind Jesus to suggest a halo? What do you suppose he was really trying to say?

I have serious problems with Mike Huckabee, but for Ron Paul, the ass-clown, to look at this video and talk about how "fascism will come wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross" is over the top moonbattery. It is clear now that if Huckabee does manage to get elected president that there will be a plague of Huckabee Derangement Syndrome which will dwarf even the Bush Derangement Syndrome currently seen in places like dailykos and MSNBC.

There is nothing wrong with a candidate for the office of president taking note of the Christmas holiday in the context of his/her campaign so get a fraking grip out there. There are plenty of things to slam Huckabee about without putting on your Grinch suit.

Attacking Huckabee in this way is only going to help him.
