Folks, we cannot let people forget that McCain wrote the friggin' amnesty bill which would have thrown our southern border open even wider than it is now. We can not let people forget that McCain has said that if such a bill were to cross his desk as president that he would sign it. Let all the dimwits who want to take him at his word take him at that word.
Remember how damned difficult it was for the conservative minority in the Senate to block amnesty/open borders the last time because there was a Republican president pushing it from the White House just as hard as left-wing Democrats were from the Senate leadership.
The best way to stiffen the spines of the squishy Republican "moderates" is to have a Republicn party united against a liberal Democrat president. If the president is a nominal Republican like McCain they will use that as an excuse to jump ship and side with the Democrats. After all they will say, they are only supporting "our" president.
