Will this plea fall upon deaf ears?

Reader Syndi sent me a link to this essay by Rich Carroll. I fear that it askes more of our elected "leaders" than they can give. You know things like patriotism, honesty and selflessness. But it is worth a try to ask them:

An open letter to The Senate and the House of Representatives of the United States America needs your attention in the coming days and months to set-aside partisan politics and to martial your wisdom and justice in a grand campaign performance of "Americans first". You have driven a wedge between "we the people" and our elected representatives in Washington. The word "amnesty" sickens real Americans; smacks of surrender, degrades the phrase "American citizen", and represents a ferocious assault on the working citizen taxpayer.

Our nation, the land of our founders, is under attack. Today, citizens are faced with overwhelming sadness and anger that our country can be so cheaply surrendered to illegal aliens. The mood of your constituents is bitter anger. Our forefathers would never be so weak as to consider surrendering our sovereignty. The brave men and women who built this great nation knew the definition of the word "illegal".

"We the people" have come, through experience, to know the word "compromise" means weak enforcement and non-compliance. You have sat idly and ignored illegal immigration for years, and now our country harbors 20 million illegal's and we the taxpayers are being asked to carry the burden because our government hasn't the resolve and is too weak to uphold and enforce our laws and deport these criminals.

The American voter will no longer be anesthetized by your lying rhetoric. We expect your childish bickering on global television to cease immediately, and that you, as a governing body take an ambitious course of swift prosecution and deportation of illegal invaders draining this nation financially and exponentially adding to our crime rate.
