To be in some damn fine company!
It seems that a website run by a certain Christian minister has compiled a list of Internet sites which spread various types of "hate speech". These sites have been banned by various nations such as (but not limited to) Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Red China, Iran, North Korea, Palestinian Territories, Sudan, Vietnam, Yemen.
Of course there are also nations on the list which are not evil but have simply signed the cultural suicide pact of political correctness, however the fact that the good reverend proudly lists North Korea (which seeks to keep its people from learning the truth about life outside North Korea) alongside Israel (which bans neo-Nazi and antisemitic websites) and apparently sees no difference between them informs us that the gentleman suffers from what has to be the worst case of malfunctioning spiritual discernment since some members of the German Protestant clergy endorsed Hitler.
Let me go on record as being proud as peaches to be included alongside websites like:
The Family Research Council
Regnery Publishing, publishers of Laura Ingrham, Jed Babbin, Robert Spencer, Rowan Scarborough, G. Gordon Liddy, John R. Lott, Jr., Russell Kirk, Mark R. Levin, David Limbaugh, Mark Steyn, Haley Barbour, Michael Barone, Bill Gertz, Bernard Goldberg, David Horowitz, Oliver L. North, Dinesh D’Souza, Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, Steve Forbes and many others.

As you can see someone thinks damned highly of me.
The good reverend warns me and the others listed that:
Hate mongers are going to have to accept, sooner or later, that the world is tired of them, the world has realized how such hatred leads to violence, extremism and terrorism, the world has seen through the motivation of the more prolific haters, and the world is changing to deal with this - previously ignored or seldom-enforced laws and regulations are now being aggressively enforced, new laws are going into effect, and international pressure is being brought to bear on various entities that offer forms of Internet access.
Dude, my advice to you is to go back to telling your congregation how Jesus being THE way, THE truth and THE light is just a load of dogmatic crap. If I changed this blog to make it acceptable to the Stalinists of North Korea or the Whabbi friutcakes of Saudi Arabia or the Shiite nutjobs of Iran I would certainly burn in hell. But I doubt that you believe in hell as anything but the final destination of Republicans so I don't think you'll get my meaning.

Lazy night
I had a wretched day today. In the Southeast we are in the grip of the great August heatwave. This always happens sometime in August and represents the last furnace blast of summer. That it is happening in early August rather than late August spilling over into September is a sign that we are due for an early fall with cool temperatures arriving in mid September.
Of course this doesn't mean that in another week when the high 90 to low 100 degree temperatures break that we will have no more hot weather. Sometime in early September there will be one more warm spell, called Indian Summer, which if we are lucky will coincide with the Labor Day holiday.
But because I have been out in the viciously hot weather all day I feel rather drained and not much in the mood to do much original thinking and posting. To that end I offer you these links which came in to me by email.
The first is from 1389 Blog and asks us to be on the lookout for certain unusual happenings. To the end of building a database of such things which may help us spot possibly significant patterns. I think that this is a worthwhile endeavor and urge all to take part.
The next thing I want to draw your attention to is a link sent by a left-wing seminar commenter* which takes us to an article on a Catholic website which tells us that Christians were better off under Saddam. I point out to all of you who don't already know that outside of "life issues" like abortion, euthanasia and stem cell research the Roman Catholic Church is as left-wing as the dailykos.
If you want to evaluate the "rightness" of a cause - on anything other than the aforementioned "life issues" - the opposition of the Catholic Church is an almost infallible indication of its moral correctness.
Now go check these out while I relax with a light crisp lager and a glass of 12-year-old Scotch.
*Left-Wing Seminar Commenter - Just as talk radio has seminar callers who pretend to be conservatives who have been pushed over the edge by the evil Bu$Hitler, conservative blogs have seminar commenters who pretend to be down-to-earth conservatives who just can no longer support ChimpyMcHaliburtonStein's policy on Iraq or the environment or whatever. In reality these people are leftist moonbats who are trying to sell the idea of some kind of meltdown in the Republican ranks. Signs that you are dealing with such a creature are, among others, pointing to not only Clinton but Carter as the "right kind of president", and attempts to draw you into some kind of politically incorrect outburst by asking you what you think of all the "faggs in Asheville". Beings like this are best ignored.

Question for the readers
Is anyone out there aware of any other conservative blog which has taken Sean Hannity to task for breathlessly intoning "I love all those guys" about the front-running RINOs in the Republican Primaries (we are excluding Fred, because he hasn't officially announced)?
You will remember that I said that if I heard such tripe coming from his mouth one more time that I was going to New York and put his head in a toilet.
I bring this up because I heard him on his radio show today whinging about a conservative blogger who has been on his case for this very thing.
I am wondering if he is talking about me.

Template Update
As you can see I finally bit the bullet and updated my template. It was only extremely painful and tedious. However it does seem to load more quickly.
Update: The page now looks "normal" in Firefox. This is a big plus.
Update II: The blog now looks "normal" in Netscape as well. For some regular readers this will be the first time they have seen Hillbilly White Trash as it is supposed to look.
Update III: Debugging continues, but so far things are looking good.

Haloscan
I'm sure that a lot of you have noticed that Haloscan is fraked up. I'm sorry if a comment that you've made has disappeared, it is not my doing. I have tried to respond to some of your comments and seen my work vanish into the ether.
If anyone has any idea of when they will have whatever is wrong fixed I'd like the hear it.

Blogrolling has fixed whatever was wrong and the blogrolls are showing updates again. I have switched the Hillbilly Ecosystem blogroll back to where recently updated blogs get moved to the top.

Some new links
I've added a list of links to various firearms related websites to my sidebar. I've included gun makers, gunsmiths, Second Amendment rights organizations and reloading equipment manufactures.
If you can think of any I've left out (and there are plenty) let me know.

A new Blog Joines Up!
Great news! Scooter, Peace Moonbeam's hapless sidekick, has started his own blog, The Scooter Report.
Scooter has a raw and edgy style which is untamed by any of the social graces and/or intelligence which Peace sometimes brings to her writing.
If you like Peace Moonbeam you'll love Scooter so go over and check him out. Here's a sample:
Now its time to get down and talk about serious stuff. I cant think of anything more serious than how President Bush has ruined this country. I couldnt sleep very good last night so I got up and made a list of 10 reasons he needs to be arrested and possibly tortured:
1. Hes HORRABLE with words and says stupid things.
2. He tried to drown all my black bruthas and sistas in New Orleens by having the army mess up the levys. He knew they couldnt swim worth a damn.
3. Just because some of our Muslim bruthas flew some planes into buildings he went to war and has killed about a billion of them. Also hes stoled pretty much all the oil from Iraq - rumor has it the white house basement and Cheneys garage is full of the stuff.
4. Global warming. Enough said about that.
5. He made his daughters snobs. I tried to grope one of them at a club last year and was hit by secret service men hired by George Bush. The daughter said nothing in my defence.
6. Im still working on this one
7. Im still working on this one
8. Im still working on this one
9. He looks stupid
10. I hate him.

Another Blogs joines!
Yet another blog joines the Ecosystem. This request is actually several days old, but was caught in my junk filter.
The World According to Carl is a nice blog with good content. Go over and pay them a visit.
Also, to anyone who emailed me with a request to join the ecosystem and didn't get an answer you probably got caught in the junk filter as well. Please re-send. I will start checking the filter from now on for stuff that shouldn't be in there.
