Did he suddenly realize that there might really be a God?

ATLANTA (AP) - Former President Jimmy Carter apologized for any words or deeds that may have upset the Jewish community in an open letter meant to improve an often-tense relationship.

He said he was offering an Al Het, a prayer said on Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement. It signifies a plea for forgiveness.

"We must not permit criticisms for improvement to stigmatize Israel," Carter said in the letter, which was first sent to JTA, a wire service for Jewish newspapers, and provided Wednesday to The Associated Press. "As I would have noted at Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, but which is appropriate at any time of the year, I offer an Al Het for any words or deeds of mine that may have done so."

Carter, who during his presidency brokered the first Israeli-Arab peace treaty, outraged many Jews with his 2006 book "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid." Critics contend he unfairly compared Israeli treatment of Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza to the legalized racial oppression that once existed in South Africa.

Israeli leaders have also shunned him over his journey to Gaza to meet with Hamas, considered a terror group by the U.S., the European Union and Israel.

Carter's apology was welcomed by Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League and a vocal critic of Carter's views on Israel.

"When a former president reaches out to the Jewish community and asks for forgiveness, it's incumbent of us to accept it," he said in a telephone interview from Jerusalem. "To what extent this is an epiphany, only time will tell. There certainly was a lot of hurt, a lot of angry words that need to be repaired. But this is a good start."

7But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: 9And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. 10And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 11I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: 12Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

In other words if Jimmah doesn't want to be an anti-Semite any more he needs to prove that he has changed his heart through consistent action over the long term.

A note saying "I'm sorry if you misunderstood my attempts to make you better people" doesn't come anywhere close to cutting it.

If Carter really wants to be believed he can start by telling us how his former attacks on Israel were wrong headed and harmful.

Now that would be a good start.

The Elders of evil

From Front Page Magazine:

They call themselves the “Elders,” a group of self-described "wise men and women" that former South African President Nelson Mandela launched last week on the occasion of his 89th birthday. Jimmy Carter, Kofi Annan and Mary Robinson (former Irish President and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights) are joining Mandela and a bevy of other has-beens to offer their services as roaming freelance diplomats. They are being financed in part by British tycoon Richard Branson and Ted Turner’s UN Foundation.

“The Elders won’t get involved delivering bed nets for malaria prevention,” said Jimmy Carter. “The issue is to fill vacuums – to address major issues that aren’t being adequately addressed.”

Translated, this means that the Elders won’t be doing anything useful for suffering human beings. Instead, they will continue their legacy of wrong-headed solutions to problems they do not understand. Individually, they were bad enough. Together, they have formed a club that no clear-thinking person would want to join or consult.

Go read the rest. The author, Joseph Klein, goes on to detail some of the damage that each one of these human malignancies has done in the world.

Jimmah Update

Mr. Minority also takes note of former president Carter's [spit] attack upon George W Bush and posts this comparison of the two presidencies:

Carter's remarks are not unexpected, and the real reason Cater is calling President Bush the worst president in history is because he is tired of being the Worst President in History and is trying to push this mantle of shame off himself and onto President Bush.

Let's see what Jimmah's legacy is vs President Bush's:

- Double digit inflation for Jimmah, 2-3% for President Bush

- Interest Rates in the 20's for the peanut farmer, 5-10% for President Bush

- Carter let the Iranians take over the American Embassy and hold our people hostage for 444 days, vs Bush kicking some ass for the 9/11 attacks.

- Unemployment at 7.5% for Mr Liberal, as where unemployment is 4.4% under President Bush

- Oh and as for "Peace in the Middle East" that Carter was suppose to have brokered, worked great eh, Jimmah? No, the palewhinians aren't still trying to wipe out Israel, all you did was give those barbarians land in which to do it from.

Nope, I think that Jimmah will hold to the title of the "Wost President" for a long time to come, because President Bush can't even come close to being as a biggest coward and incompetent as Jimmah.

That about says it all. Jimmah needs to just be very quiet and hope people just forget about him.

History's worst president attacks a better man

CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - The White House on Sunday fired back at former President Jimmy Carter, calling him "increasingly irrelevant" a day after Carter described George W. Bush's presidency as the worst in history in international relations.

Carter, a Democrat, said on Saturday in an interview with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that "as far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history."

White House spokesman Tony Fratto had declined to react on Saturday but on Sunday fired back.

"I think it's sad that President Carter's reckless personal criticism is out there," Fratto told reporters. "I think it's unfortunate. And I think he is proving to be increasingly irrelevant with these kinds of comments."

I'm afraid that I can't agree with the White House on this one. Carter can not become increasingly irrelevant since he maxed out on irrelevance a long time ago. In fact he pegged the irrelevance meter even before he left the White House.

What Carter can do is make himself even more angry, even more bitter, and even more small as he vents his resentment at the realization that his life's only legacy will be one of pathetic and contemptible failure.

It is clear that the left-wing mainstream media does not care anything about Carter. If they did they would stop giving him a forum in which to further diminish himself.

Hey look! Another false church!

From The Washington Post:

Former presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton are leading an effort to forge dozens of small and medium-size, black and white Baptist organizations into a robust coalition that would serve as a counterweight to the conservative Southern Baptist Convention.

The giant SBC, with more than 16 million members, has long dominated the political, theological and social landscape among Baptists, often spawning resentment among smaller Baptist groups. It has also been closely aligned with the Republican Party.

The new coalition, which is Carter's brainchild, would give moderate Baptists a stronger collective voice and could provide Democrats with greater entree into the Baptist community. But Carter and other organizers are trying to walk a fine line, insisting that the alliance is not directly political while touting its potential to recast the role of religion in the public square.

Any organization which joins a religious movement led by the rabid anti-Semite which Carter has revealed himself to be and the pathological liar and adulterer which Clinton has proven himself to be has no right calling itself "Christian".

This new "Baptist" coalition says that it isn't going to be political [Lemuel stops and laughs out loud for 45 minutes]; so what will they be involving themselves with?

"We're not against any other group of people of faith," he said. "We're against the fact that 100,000 people died last month of malaria. We're against the fact that hundreds of thousands of Africans face starvation each year."

OK, then I expect to see you wearing out the carpet in the House and Senate office buildings as you go from office to office demanding that EPA rules banning DDT be revoked and that we begin spraying it wherever malaria is a problem to control the mosquito population.

Then I expect you to start programs to teach Africans the benefits of free market capitalism, which out of all the economic and political systems that have ever existed in the history of the earth is the one which can produce the most wealth for the most people. And I expect them to warn the Africans to avoid socialism like the plague because it is a lie wrapped in a deception and served up with a heaping side order of misery and oppression.

When they begin to do these things I will consider taking them seriously as Christians who want to help people rather than just another group of squalid little leftists seeking to deceive the gullible by wrapping themselves in the mantle of a religion which they fail to understand let alone live up to.

The prostitute from Plains

Alan M Dershowitz digs the dirt on Jimmah:

It now turns out that Jimmy Carter--who is accusing the Jews of buying the silence of the media and politicians regarding criticism of Israel--has been bought and paid for by Arab money. In his recent book tour to promote Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, Carter has been peddling a particularly nasty bit of bigotry. The canard is that Jews own and control the media, and prevent newspapers and the broadcast media from presenting an objective assessment of the Arab-Israeli conflict, and that Jews have bought and paid for every single member of Congress so as to prevent any of them from espousing a balanced position. How else can anyone understand Carter’s claims that it is impossible for the media and politicians to speak freely about Israel and the Middle East? The only explanation – and one that Carter tap dances around, but won’t come out and say directly – is that Jews control the media and buy politicians. Carter then presents himself as the sole heroic figure in American public life who is free of financial constraints to discuss Palestinian suffering at the hands of the Israelis.

Listen carefully to what Carter says about the media: the plight of the Palestinians is “not something that has been acknowledged or even discussed in this country... You never hear anything about what is happening to the Palestinians by the Israelis.” He claims to have personally “witnessed and experienced the severe restraints on any free and balanced discussion of the facts.” He implies that the Jews impose these “severe restraints.” He then goes on to say that the only reason his book--which has been universally savaged by reviewers--is receiving such negative reviews is because they are all being written by “representatives of Jewish organizations” (demonstrably false!). So much for the media.

Now here is what he says about politicians:

“It would be almost politically suicidal for members of Congress to espouse a balanced position between Israel and Palestine, to suggest that Israel comply with international law or to speak in defense of justice or human rights for Palestinians. Very few would ever deign to visit the Palestinian cities of Ramallah, Nablus, Hebron, Gaza City or even Bethlehem and talk to the beleaguered residents.”

It now turns out that the shoe is precisely on the other foot. Recent disclosures prove that it is Carter who has been bought and paid for by anti-Israel Arab and Islamic money.

Journalist Jacob Laksin has documented the tens of millions of dollars that the Carter Center has accepted from Saudi Arabian royalty and assorted other Middle Eastern sultans, who, in return, Carter dutifully praised as peaceful and tolerant (no matter how despotic the regime). And these are only the confirmed, public donations.

Carter has also accepted half a million dollars and an award from Sheik Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan, saying in 2001: "This award has special significance for me because it is named for my personal friend, Sheik Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan." This is the same Zayed, the long-time ruler of the United Arab Emirates, whose $2.5 million gift to the Harvard Divinity School was returned in 2004 due to Zayed's rampant Jew-hatred. Zayed's personal foundation, the Zayed Center, claims that it was Zionists, rather than Nazis, who “were the people who killed the Jews in Europe” during the Holocaust. It has held lectures on the blood libel and conspiracy theories about Jews and America perpetrating Sept. 11.

Another journalist, Rachel Ehrenfeld, in a thorough and devastating article on "Carter’s Arab Financiers," meticulously catalogues Carter’s ties to Arab moneymen, from a Saudi bailout of his peanut farm in 1976, to funding for Carter’s presidential library, to continued support for all manner of Carter’s post-presidential activities. For instance, it was the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI), founded in Pakistan and fronted by a Saudi billionaire, Gaith Pharaon, that helped Carter start up his beloved Carter Center. According to Ehrenfeld:

“BCCI's origins were primarily ideological. [Agha Hasan] Abedi wanted the bank to reflect the supra-national Muslim credo and ‘the best bridge to help the world of Islam, and the best way to fight the evil influence of the Zionists.’

“BCCI's origins were primarily ideological. [Agha Hasan] Abedi wanted the bank to reflect the supra-national Muslim credo and ‘the best bridge to help the world of Islam, and the best way to fight the evil influence of the Zionists.’

[. . .]

It is particularly disturbing that a former president who has accepted dirty blood-money from dictators, anti-Semites, Holocaust deniers, and supporters of terrorism should try to deflect attention from his own conflicts of interest by raising the oldest canard in the sordid history of anti-Semitism: namely, that Jews have dual loyalty and use their money improperly to influence the country they live in, in favor of the country to which they owe their real allegiance.

It would seem that Carter has become the blood brother of Dr. Goebbels. Goebbels and every other Nazi, neo-Nazi, Klansman and flea-bitten imam on the jihadist version of the rubber chicken circuit.

I won't say that I'm disappointed, because when you have zero respect for someone they have no power to disappoint you, but I am surprised. Ex-presidents have always had some regard for their reputations and their legacy.

By the way, I know that the Saudi royals throw money at every former president and a good many former congressmen as well but can you think of one who has so totally whored himself?

I honestly don't think that it is the money. I think that Carter's primary motivation is hate. Hatred for the nation which rejected him in favor of the contemptible bumpkin Ronald Reagan. The bumpkin who then went and won the Cold War and earned himself a place in the history books right beside FDR.

In Carter's diseased imagination since Islam is the primary enemy of the United States it is Islam which must be the vehicle of his revenge. By aligning himself with the Islamofascists and lending them what he considers the prestige of his name he undermines the position of the US in the world.

Carter's hatred of Israel stems from the fact that Israel is America's only reliable ally in the Middle East and the only beachhead of democratic Western civilization in the middle of the savage sea of medieval Islamic despotisms which make up the Arab/Islamic world. If he can separate the US from Israel the Jews will be driven into the sea and America will suffer a massive loss of international prestige. A loss which will cause America's other allies to reconsider their allegiance.

Undermining America's position in the world is Carter's mission in life. It was behind his meddling in North Korea (he brokered the Clinton administration deal which gave Kim nuclear technology and money in exchange for an empty promise not to build bombs) and it is behind his relationship with the Islamists (that and the wheelbarrow full of cash they are paying him).

The question is how long the American government is going to tolerate his freelancing foreign policy. Especially since his goal is treasonous.

A bit of justice

The blog Israel Matzav is posting about something I find hilarious:

An Emory University professor has urged the university's Carter Center to cut its ties with former President Dhimmi Carter if it wants to survive:

A noted Emory University anthropologist is calling for the Carter Center to distance itself from its namesake in the wake of the former president's latest book and recent comments about Israel.

Writing to Carter Center Executive Director John Hardman to decline a position on an advisory panel, Melvin Konner also offered a piece of advice.

"If you want The Carter Center to survive and thrive independently in the future, you must take prompt and decisive steps to separate the center from President Carter's now irrevocably tarnished legacy," wrote Konner, adding that the center has to make it clear that, on matters of the Middle East and the Jewish community, Carter does not speak for the institution.

"If you do not do this, then President Carter's damage to his own effectiveness as a mediator, not to mention to his reputation and legacy, will extend, far more tragically in my view, to The Carter Center and all its activities," wrote Konner, the Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Anthropology at Emory and the author of "Unsettled: An Anthropology of the Jews."

As I said, hilarious. The CARTER Center is being strongly urged to cut its ties to CARTER before he drags them down with him.

We might call this a Christmas gift to sanity itself.

We might also take it as a warning that God keeps his promises. The Lord told Abraham in Genesis 12:3 "And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse . . .".

Carter has survived a great deal of his own foolishness with his reputation still intact, at least among those on the left. This latest episode, his one-sided racist anti-Semitic screed of a book seems to have been the straw which broke the camel's back.

He will still be able to get by, touring the Middle East giving lectures to Islamofascist audiences for large fees however his days of being taken seriously by any civilized people may have come to an end.

This photoshop of the cover of Carter's latest book captures its true spirit far better than the actual cover.

More trashing Jimmy

From Front Page Magazine:

Jimmy Carter, it appears, needed a scapegoat for his failed presidency and Israel served as a convenient target. His new book Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid is a shameful tract filled with factual inaccuracies, and blatant one-sidededness. His pent up frustration with his inability to influence U.S. policy on behalf of his Arab friends prompted the publication of this libelous book.

Lest the readers forget, in March 1977, just months after his inauguration, Carter made his first foreign policy speech in which he called for a “Palestinian Homeland.”

Carter’s presidency, widely renowned for its crowning achievement, The Camp David Accords, which established a peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, was not however, a Carter initiative.

The essay goes on to detail how Camp David happened in spite of Carter, not because of him.

The more that I study Carter the more obvious and profound his incompetence and outright evil become. I think that it is time to revive the ancient Athenian custom of ostracism.

Jimmy Carter, former human

David Horowitz has written an essay on his website, Front Page Magazine, about Jimmy Carter and his new book:

Even as Islamic Hitlerites gather in Iran to deny the first Holocaust of the Jews and to plot the second, former president Jimmy Carter tours America with a new book that describes Jews as racists and oppressors, and suggests they are also a conspiratorial mafia that intimidates “critics,” controls America’s media and war policy, and are therefore also the source of Islamic terrorism and the Arabs’ genocidal campaign to eliminate them from the map of the Middle East.

In other words, Americans beware of the Jew in your midst.

I could write a long post about how utterly vile Carter is. I could go into the history of his failed presidency and the terrible damage it did to the nation. But I'm not going to. You already know all that, and if you are too young to remember Carter as president be thankful you didn't have to go through that national humiliation.

The fact is that Jimmy Carter is filth. If you dip a bucket into a sewer and then look down into it you will see Jimmy Carter looking up at you. In writing this book, which goes beyond mere anti-Zionism or even anti-Semitism and begins to flirt with a kind of 21st Century blood libel, Carter has for all intents and purposes resigned from the human race.

By casting his lot with the Islamofascist Muslim theocrats and neo-Nazi holocaust deniers Carter has placed himself beyond the pale. It is no longer necessary for decent civilized people to even recognize a common humanity with Carter.

In the eyes of the law he remains a man with all the legal protections that go with that designation, but in all the ways that count in the moral realm he is a mere thing
